Wilpattu National Park is the largest protected wildlife sanctuary in Sri Lanka, situated along the northwestern coast across the Puttalam and Anuradhapura districts. Spanning over 131,693 hectares, Wilpattu is distinguished by its dense dry-zone jungle and unique geological ecosystem of natural, sand-rimmed rainwater lakes known as 'villus'.
