Nuwara Eliya, affectionately nicknamed 'Little England', is a premier hill country resort town nestled in the central highlands of Sri Lanka at an altitude of 1,868 meters above sea level. Founded by British explorer Samuel Baker in 1846, Nuwara Eliya served as the preferred cool-climate sanctuary for British civil servants, planters, and officials seeking refuge from tropical lowland heat.
