Day 1: Welcome at airport and transfer to Negombo beach resort. Day spent relaxing by the beach and Dutch Lagoon. Day 2-3: Travel to Habarana for an elephant back ride and village bullock cart tour. Full-day 4x4 game drive in Minneriya National Park to witness wild elephant herds. Day 4: Early morning climb of Sigiriya Lion Rock Citadel and Pidurangala Rock. Tour Dambulla Cave Temple and check in at Dambulla. Day 5-6: Drive via Matale Aluvihare Rock Temple to Kandy. Visit Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, Kandy Lake, Millennium Elephant Foundation, and Peradeniya Royal Botanical Gardens. Watch a Kandyan Cultural Dance Show. Day 7-8: Ascent to Nuwara Eliya ("Little England") via Ramboda Falls and tea factories. Explore Lake Gregory, Victoria Park, Lovers Leap waterfall, and Hakgala Rose Garden. Early morning trek at UNESCO World Heritage Horton Plains National Park to World's End and Baker's Falls. Day 9: Drive to Kitulgala on the Kelani River for optional white-water rafting, confidence jumps, and natural rock pool sliding. Day 10-11: Transfer to commercial capital Colombo for a city and shopping tour (BMICH, Gangaramaya Temple, Galle Face Green, Old Parliament, Dutch Hospital). Final departure transfer to Colombo BIA Airport.
Warm greeting at Bandaranaike International Airport by representative. Transfer to your beach hotel in Negombo (30 mins). Spend the day relaxing by the sea shores and Dutch Lagoon to rejuvenate mind and body.
Drive inland (3.5 hours, 153 km) to Habarana in the cultural triangle. Check-in at hotel and enjoy a 1-hour romantic elephant back ride and bullock cart tour through traditional rural village pathways.
Depart early (6:30 AM) for a full-day 4x4 open jeep safari in Minneriya National Park (8,889 hectares). Observe wild Asian elephant herds, sambar deer, raptors, and enjoy a traditional Sri Lankan lunch.
Ascend King Kashyapa's 5th-century Sigiriya Rock Citadel and Pidurangala Rock for sweeping views. En route visit the UNESCO Dambulla Cave Temple complex containing 157 Buddha statues.
Transfer to royal hill capital Kandy. En route visit Aluvihare Rock Temple in Matale. Tour Kandy Lake (Bogambara Lake), Sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic, gem lapidary, and local craft bazaar.
Visit Millennium Elephant Foundation in Kegalle to observe elephant care. Tour Spice Gardens and Peradeniya Royal Botanical Gardens (147 acres) featuring the famous orchid house. Evening Kandyan Cultural Dance Show.
Transfer to misty Nuwara Eliya ("Little England"). View Ramboda Waterfalls, tour tea plantations with tea plucking and factory processing, visit Hakgala Rose Gardens, Seetha Amman Temple, and Lake Gregory.
Early morning trek across UNESCO World Heritage Horton Plains National Park (2,130m elevation) to World's End escarpment (900m drop) and Baker's Falls. Visit Ambewela Dairy Farm and strawberry agro-shops.
Drive to Kitulgala on the Kelani River (filming site for Bridge on the River Kwai). Optional white-water rafting, natural rock pool sliding, confidence jumps, and afternoon hot tea with snacks at camp.
Drive to capital city Colombo. Guided tour visiting BMICH, Gangaramaya Temple, Galle Face Green promenade, Old Parliament, Dutch Hospital precinct, Colombo Lighthouse, and designer shopping malls.
